Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the vision of First Argyle

A: The vision of First Baptist Church Argyle is to be the place where the love of God meets the lives of people.

Q: What distinguishes First Argyle from other churches in the area?

A: First Baptist Argyle believes it is called to fulfill some key roles in God's kingdom.  Specifically, we believe we are to be:

  • Distinctly reverent- placing God above all else.
  • Distinctly focused- fulfilling the purposes of discipleship, fellowship, ministry, missions and worship.
  • Distinctly connected- blending people together not only by affinity groups, but across generations.
  • Distinctly missional- taking an active role in teaching our families to serve Christ by serving others.

Q: What are services like at First Argyle?

A: The approach of First Baptist Church Argyle is to participate in congregational services that reflect the multiple generations of people whom we minister too.  People who attend will find welcoming hearts and hands, blended music, a firm commitment to teaching the precepts and principles found in the Bible and opportunities to individually and corporately give our selves to God in prayer and activity.

Q: Do you have a nursery?

A: Yes! First Argyle has a nursery program during Sunday school and our morning service.  Parents can be assured that workers have been screened and checked through local and national sex offender databases.  We also use a pager system for checking in/out infants in the nursery so that parents can relax knowing their children are taken care of.

Q: What about children?

A: We are investing heavily in the future generations who come through our church. Parents will find that First Argyle has Sunday school and extended teaching for their children. Solid Rock Ranch is our children's church program that releases from the Sunday morning service before Pastor Brad teaches.  Additionally, CIA is held at 6:30 on Wednesday evening for children K-5th grade.

Q: What about youth?

A: The youth program at First Argyle is called X-plosion. Youth have several opportunities to participate. On Sunday mornings there are classes for junior & senior high students, an ongoing- in home study on Sunday nights and a midweek all youth event each Wednesday. Additionally, youth participate in mission trips, activities, fellowships and conferences throughout the year.

Q: How can I get connected?
A: There are two main ways that people can get connected to like minded people at First Argyle.  The first is through Sunday school classes. Groups meet in all age ranges on Sunday mornings at 9:45.  The second is through small groups.  In October 2006, First Argyle installed the first small groups meeting in the homes of church members.

Q: What size is the church?
A: Currently, First Argyle averages 115 people on Sunday mornings, 80 in small group/Bible study, 50 people in monthly ministry activities and 20 participating in non-local missions activities. In September of 2006, "Celebrate New Beginnings" marked a point of transition at First Baptist Argyle. The pastor outlined his dream for First Argyle to be a church that is ministering to 500 people through services, 400 through small group/Bible study, 250 involved in ministries and 100 in non-local missions activities by January 1st of 2012.
